Who is eligible to apply?

Any dependant of a current, deceased or retired Maine National Guard Member, who will be attending a college, university or technical school full time during the 2012/13 school year.

The Criteria:

Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA or better, with strong leadership qualities, work ethic and a proven commitment to family and community.

Number of scholarships and amount:

Ten scholarships will be awarded, each worth $500. The scholarships are not renewable.

How are the scholarships awarded?

Students must fill out the attached application and write an essay, which will be evaluated by a panel of judges. The 250 word essay will be titled: Your family in the National Guard.

When can I apply for this scholarship?

On or after January 15, 2012.

What is the application deadline and where do I send it?

April 1, 2012 is the deadline. Completed applications and essay must be postmarked or e-mailed by the deadline and sent to COL Jeffrey Morton at the address above.

When will the Scholarship Committee announce its selection?

During the Annual NGAME Conference in the Spring. The winners will be invited and encouraged to attend.
